Brugada Syndrome Test

Gene-Checker
(Gene Checker) is a

This is a genetic test kit that you can do at home. You can test for genetic diseases by collecting your own saliva.

It is used to determine the genes involved in sudden death. Genetic testing allows for countermeasures to be taken and prevention to be achieved.

Three points to recommend Gene-Checker

Inspections are completed at home!

You don't have to wait in line for hours at the hospital; you can easily test at home.

Genetic counseling is available.

We will introduce you to a specialist doctor at a cooperating clinic on a "Buyer Only" basis. You can receive genetic counseling from the doctor regarding the test results. Counseling is available even for negative test results.

Free return shipping!

Everything needed for return shipping is included in the inspection kit package. Everything is complete with the purchase of the inspection kit!

What is Brugada Syndrome?

Brugada syndrome (genetic condition resulting in increased risk of sudden cardiac arrest)

Brugada syndrome, a relatively new disease reported in 1992, causes a sudden and dangerous arrhythmia called ventricular fibrillation, even though the heart itself is not diseased. Ventricular fibrillation causes the heart to go into spasm and is unable to pump blood to the body, leading to loss of consciousness, collapse, or in the worst case, death.

The cause is that in about 20% of cases of Brugada syndrome Mutations in the SCN5A (sodium channel) gene were found, and furtherInvolvement of seven genes, including calcium channelshas been reported and is genetic channelopathies are thought to underlie

Brugada syndrome is more common in Japanese and other Asian men. Without arrhythmia, there are no subjective symptoms caused by this syndrome.

Some people with Brugada syndrome have a family history of sudden death, suggesting that some genetic abnormality is involved.

Symptoms of Brugada Syndrome

There are no symptoms other than seizures, and the patient can lead a normal, everyday life. However, a seizure can cause not only fainting but also loss of life.

Particular attention is reported to be paid to those between 40 and 60 years of age. Brugada syndrome often develops in adulthood, and the average age of sudden death is 40 years old.

Brugada Syndrome is
Should I do genetic testing?

In Brugada syndrome, the SCN5A gene has been found in some patients, and recent studies have revealed a prognostic relationship. However, in more than half of cases, no obvious genetic abnormality is detected, and in many cases, familial relationships are not clear.

Cases have also been observed in which patients with abnormalities in the SCN5A gene do not necessarily develop Brugada-type ECG or arrhythmias. Brugada syndrome is strongly related to the involvement of multiple genetic polymorphisms that cannot be explained by a single genetic abnormality alone, and to factors other than genetic background such as gender and age.

Those for whom genetic testing is recommended.

  • 1. family history of sudden death or Brugada syndrome
  • 2. ECG shows some kind of cardiac conduction defect.
  • 3. Those with eczema attacks, history of VF, or other symptomatic conditions.
  • 4. Those who strongly desire genetic testing

Can it be prevented?

It is recommended that an implantable defibrillator be placed in people at high risk of developing Brugada syndrome. This device can prevent sudden death by automatically applying electricity to the heart when ventricular fibrillation occurs.
